Do you mean serious off-roaders, such as the Toyota Land Cruiser and Land Rover Discovery? Or do you mean something just a little higher off the ground than a conventional hatchback? If the latter, then probably the best to go for are the Toyota C-HR Hybrid (official consumption of 3.8 litres per 100km), Nissan Qashqai 1.5 dCi diesel (3.8 litres per 100km), or a Peugeot 3008 1.6 BlueHDi (4.0 litres per 100km).
