No, you should be able to fit three car seats in the back of a C-Max, and most definitely in the seven-seat Grand C-Max. The Toyota you’re most likely thinking of is the Verso, which is a very good MPV – roomy and hugely reliable. If you don’t fancy an MPV, then your best bet is a big saloon such as a Toyota Avensis or Mazda6, but it depends on the seats you’re using as the back seats in those are generally a bit narrower than you get in an MPV, and usually sculpted for two people, not three. Take the seats and kids along on the test drive to make sure that you all fit comfortably.
