I need to change my car as it’s too big to teach my daughter to drive in. I need something smaller , 1.4-1.6 engine and low mileage any advice . Can’t be too low too ground as I have bad back .
Hi Veronica,
You need to look at B-segment crossovers, which seem to fit your bill best of all. Don’t fixate on the 1.4-1.6-litre thing; cars have been downsizing for years, so now the new breed of 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engines (which are commonplace in B-segment crossovers) deliver the sort of power and torque analogous to an ‘old’ 1.6. You need to consider the SEAT Arona, Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3, Kia Stonic and Hyundai Kona. Out of these, the Arona is the best bet, especially with the 1.0 TSI engine. If you look at the Mazda, make sure you try the diesel – this has a turbo, which makes it more pleasant and easier to drive than the petrol CX-3s, which do not have turbos.
