Which car for €5,000?
I'd like advice on what type of car to buy within a budget of about 5000 Euro. Top priorities are safety (I'm a new driver with a young family, so I want something that's safe in a crash), storage space, good mileage per gallon and relatively low emissions. The idea is to have this car for 3-4 years before moving to an electric or hybrid. I'd like to avoid an SUV. Thanks!

You could do a lot worse, going on these parameters, than a 2008 or similar Honda Civic, preferably the diesel, which might be better on fuel for you, though may not be worth a lot in three to four years' time.
