Hi there, I am looking at buying a E-Class estate Mercedes from the UK. Both cars were first registered in 2017, however one is described as Model Year 2016 and the other as Model Year 2017! So I am trying to understand if there was a new model introduced this year, if I buy the Model Year 2016 car (registered in Jan 2017), would I be buying an older style. I want to ensure I get the latest style/model as they are in and around the same price. Any advice would be much appreciated. Many Thanks, Stephanie
Hi Stephanie,
There a lot of potential for confusion here as the new (and I do mean entirely new, from the ground up) E-Class was introduced in 2016. Theoretically, that should mean that any car registered in 2017 would be the new one, but of course there is the possibility that an older model might have been hanging around a dealer for a year, and was registered late. You can check it against the type numbers — the new model is the W213 E-Class, while the old one is the W212, or if you want to send us the link to the adverts, we can check that for you.
