The N47 engine is actually still in production, but the timing chain issues to which you’re referring were supposed to have been fixed by the start of production in April 2011. Mind you, we have heard of problems still occurring on engines made after that date, so don’t buy one that doesn’t come with a full service history and a good warranty.
