When to service my Octavia?

When to service my Octavia?

2 questions whats the service intervals on my Octavia 1.6 tdi and when should i change the timing belt. As the engine management system is telling me 10 k left to service even though I've done about 15000 km since i got it

Our answer:

Hi Gary,

You've not given us a model year, so we'll assume it's around 2015-2018.

The timing belt needs to be changed at least every 210,000km, regardless of time, so you're probably ok there. The Octavia runs on 'longlife' service intervals, where the car analyses the engine and automatically tells the owner when a service is advisable. Regardless of that, it should be done at least every two years (though we'd recommend an annual check-up). Some owners switch to fixed interval services, in which case it's an oil service every 12 months or 15,000km, whichever comes sooner. In short, your car doesn't sound like it needs a service as yet, but I'd be surprised if it lets it go 25,000km between oil changes. Personally, I wouldn't.
