When to do the belt on a 2012 Audi A6?

When should the timing belt and water pump be changed on 2012 2litre diesel Audi A6 . There is 169,000 miles on it . Also does flywheel need to be changed .

Our answer:

Hi Brian,

The belt should be changed at least every 210,000km, regardless of time, so if it has not already been done, then it really should be. It's customary to replace the water pump at the same time as you need to remove the timing belt to get at it anyway, but there is no set replacement time for the flywheel, and there's no advantage to having it done at the same time as the timing belt really. I assume you're asking as it is a dual-mass flywheel and they can develop issues, but if the car is driving smoothly with no juddering or other strange noises or vibrations, then don't worry about having it done.
