When to change the belt in my Focus?

I have a 182 Ford Focus 1.5 Tdci with 118 thousand kilometres on the clock. When should I get my timing belt changed? Is it just the water pump that needs changing with the belt or is there something else that needs changing along with it?

Our answer:

Hi Henry,

That engine's belt should be changed at least every 180,000km or 10 years - whichever comes first. The idler and tensioner should be changed at the same time, as well as the auxiliary drive belts - and the water pump as you said.
