When should timing belt be changed?

When should timing belt be changed?

Hello, My name is Paolo and i have some issue to understand the change intervals of my ford focus. As its well known Main Ford Dealers have tendency to invent intervals to force customers to service the car often and earn more money I.E. In Philippines the engine oil its suggested to be changed every 5000 km - That s absurd, Ford just told me to change my Timing belt at 80,000 km which i haven't heard that from anywhere else. Here are my car data if you can please help me out would be good : Make = Ford Model = Focus ICA2 Diesel Engine Size = 2L TDCI Body Type = Hatchback Year Model = 2011 Produced in Philippines Engine Nr. = DA002373 Chassis Number = PE163EMRB1MR00229 Steering on the left side - diving on the right side of the road like in Italy/Spain/ France Cheers Paolo

Our answer:

Hi Paolo,

Assuming your car is the newer shape model (introduced in 2011), our information is that the timing belt should be changed every 200,000km or every 10 years. The oil change schedule is every 20,000km or every year.

Hope that helps
