What's wrong with my Nissan?
Hi there, my partner bought a 2008 Nissan X-Trail and he's had a bit of work done, but there's this low humming sound when you're driving and it seems to get lower or higher depending on which gear you're in. Also, when you get out there's a high pitched sound coming from under the bonnet when engine is off probably goes for a minute or two.
Any advice much appreciated thank you

Hi Kate,
It's very very difficult to assess issues such as this from afar. My suspicion on the humming sound would be a wheel bearing, though it could be something in the gearbox or clutch too. If the other noise is related then it's neither of those things, though that sounds more like the cooling fan and probably a separate thing.
Our advice would be to bring the car straight to a mechanic and have it looked at.
