Without any further information I assume you are expecting longer range because of official fuel consumption figures, while the trip computer is estimating much less distance on a full tank. The official numbers aren't often representative of real-world driving, unfortunately, while the trip computer readout is based on the most recent average fuel consumption in the car. You can improve it with a more efficient driving style, for example. Other measures include removing any excess weight from the car (e.g. golf bags in the boot) or roof rails; check the tyre pressures are correct and that the wheels are aligned properly; and if the car's engine has not been serviced in a while, get it looked at. Even cleaning the air filter unit can improve fuel economy.
