What's the noise in our Astra?
My wife has a vauxhall astra 1.6 eco tec, i understand it has a timing chain, but when she starts it after been stood a while more so first thing on a morning it makes a rattle sound for about 5 seconds, could you tell me what it might be thanks.

It's impossible to diagnose a noise such as that remotely, so I do suggest you bring the car along to a good mechanic and let them assess it. What you've described could well be a noisy timing chain on start-up before oil is circulating properly, but if it's excessively noisy then there's likely a problem that needs rectifying.
