What's the noise in my Merc?
Hi, I just bought a used E430 from 1999 320k km. I drives like a new car, except when you want to accelerate a little bit more from standstill, fx to go onto a busy road, then it comes with a high "DUNK" underneath the car, feels like your driving over some small object. accelerate normal, nothing at all. The sound comes from the middle of the car, between center and rear axel. Any ideas? /Chris

Hi Chris,
Sounds to us like an issue with the mounting of either the transmission or the driveshaft - or the rear differential for that matter. Two minutes on a ramp should be enough for a good mechanic to show you where the issue is.
