In comparison to its predecessor, the Golf 8 is quieter and more refined on the road, managing to be a little better to drive, but also more comfortable and civilised. Inside, the new car has way more technology on show with its digital dashboard, etc, though it's no bigger than the old car.

The best version depends very much on you, and your needs. The 1.5 TSI petrol model is probably the best all-rounder, though the 2.0 TDI diesel would suit those that spend a lot of time at motorway speed.
