What's the difference in running costs?

Deciding between 2 cars on the site and wondering about the difference in petrol running costs between a 2018 1.3 corolla and a 2018 1.8 Avensis both petrol. Doing roughly 1500 km a month city and rural driving. Thanks

Our answer:

Hi Michelle,

It will depend on your driving style and other factors, so we cannot give you a definitive value for the savings you would make. However, we can tell you that, of those two, the 1.3 Corolla is going to be the cheaper car to run, as it’s a smaller, more frugal engine in a lighter car. Saying that, if you're carrying four people around and luggage or you're in a hurry often, then the 1.3-litre engine will have to work harder than the 1.8, so there might not be much in it.
