In short, it’s a perfectly proficient and reliable car. The ‘B6’ sixth-generation Passat, launched in 2005, was overhauled so comprehensively during its midlilfe facelift in 2010 that it became known as the B7 seventh-gen Passat, even though the car underneath an entirely new body was the same. The old 2.0 FSI petrol engine was dropped in 2008 for a 1.8 TSI, so we’re guessing by a 2.0-litre engine you’re talking about a 2011 TDI model.
