
Looking at the annual tax of vehicles. So an audi q7 is taxed per emmisions, yet a similar 4x4 jeep let's say with a 2.5 or 3L engine above the 2009 registration licence plate is taxed per engine size due to the new owner taxing it privately and not commercially. Can ye kind folks explain this to me and how do we go about rectifying this issue with the government lads.

It does seem very odd at times. To clarify, passenger vehicles registered from 2008 on are taxed according to their CO2 emissions rating, but if you want to take a commercial vehicle and use it privately, it must be taxed on the old by-engine-capacity regime, regardless of its age. Makes no sense, but there you go...
