Probably something high-riding, but not too big. You could try a Fiat Panda 4x4, but they really are very small and quite hard to find (although brilliant fun). A Suzuki SX4 is a good option – rugged, roomy and very reliable - or you could track down a nice Skoda Yeti, which is also an excellent choice.
