Wr are thinking about changing our cars. At the moment, we have a 151 Toyota Rav 4, D4D, Good Toyota engine im told and a 172 Skoda Fabia, 1L Petrol. Thinking of holding onto the Rav 4 for long journeys as it doesn't owe us anything and upgrading the Fabia to something larger for everyday use. Love how the skoda drives but it's too small for a Family with 2 teens. Our budget is approx 15 to 20K along with trading in the Fabia? What would you think this please? If you think this is a good idea, what would you recommend for our budget please? Thank you
Hi Michelle,
As you're managing with a 1.0-litre petrol engine now, and you didn't mention otherwise, we'll assume that another petrol engine, or even a hybrid, would suit you fine. And we'll work with a top budget of €20,000. That gives you a huge amount of choice on the used market.
The car that immediately comes to mind is the Honda Jazz. It has huge rear legroom and a flexible interior that would really suit you, without taking up too much more space on the road than your Fabia. There are good low-mileage examples within budget from as new as 2022. This car was called the Honda Fit in Japan, so consider those as well.
The Honda Civic is another lovely car within budget, though its rear is not as versatile as the Jazz's and most of them on the used market are diesel, which we'd steer you away from unless you're spending huge amounts of time at motorway speeds.
If you've been happy with your Fabia, then consider upgrading to the Scala or Octavia, which both are notably more spacious inside. There are plenty of both in the classifieds.
