Hi, I am driving a 172 Kia Niro with 76k Km. thinking of changing in the next year or so but not sure what to change for. looking for advice as to weather I should stay self charging hybrid or look at something else. Is there any clean diesels I should consider? have about 40k to spend inc trade in.
Hi Amanda,
With that budget, you’ve got pretty much free reign to get the car that best suits you. What we would say is that, if you’ve owned that Niro from new, then you’re comfortably doing the more-than-20,000km per annum, which is where we would recommend you consider a diesel. Modern 2019 and 2020 diesels will be Euro 6-compliant and also, if you research, RDE2; this latter tag means they pass the most stringent NOx emissions tests. Something like a Volkswagen T-Cross or T-Roc TDI would therefore be a good bet.
If you like mild hybrids, though, and you’re happy with the crossover driving position afforded to you by your Kia, you could do a lot worse than the new Ford Puma. It has a nice cabin, a huge boot with some clever storage solutions and a pleasant petrol-electric drivetrain with good driving manners.
