What to look for on an Audi A6 Avant?

Hi, looking at an Audi A6 Avant 3.0L 272bhp with over 60,000...what do I need to look out for please?

Our answer:

Hi Neil,

We’re guessing this is a 2014-on ‘C7’ generation Audi A6, rather than the current A6 Avant – it’s very unlikely any example of the new one would have covered 60,000km on the clock. The 272hp variant of the 3.0 TDI engine in the C7 A6 was paired to the seven-speed S tronic gearbox, which mandates oil changes every 60,000km. Therefore, on this car, it’s very worthwhile checking if the gearbox oil has been done recently and, if not, insisting it has been. Otherwise, it’s good news on the mechanicals – this is a solid drivetrain, with few faults reported in its early life. These were rectified by the time the 272hp variant was introduced in 2014. Other than that, there may be some rattles in the interior and possible issues with adaptive headlights, but these problems are rarely reported by A6 owners.
