What to look for on 2011 Polo?

Hi, I am thinking to buy 2011 POLO 1.2L MK5 60 PS model, car is 28K mileage with 1 prev owner and clean MOT + service history, reg:CY11HKN, can anyone please advise what the key attributes to check in the car? any critical bits engine/mechanical or electrical that are critical in these models? this is also chain-belt model rather than cam one, is this better? thanks

Our answer:

Hi there,

Check that 1.2 engine for lumpy running (it'll be the coil packs) or a noticeable rattle (stretched timing chain) and make sure that the oil level is healthy (if it's not there may be valve damage). Electric windows get stuck, and washer jet pipes split. Jolts from the suspension mean the drop links are wearing out, while the front lower arm bushes can develop splits.
