That’s not ridiculous mileage for a nine-year-old Golf TDI, so basically check for excessive wear to interior fixtures and fittings (pedals, steering wheel, seat bolsters etc.) that might indicate the car has done more than 160,000 miles, and ensure its history and service maintenance schedule are both comprehensive and bang up-to-date. Give it a test drive to ensure it runs smoothly and doesn’t make any loud clonks or noises and then haggle hard to get the best price you can.
