The ‘B8’ Audi A4 was the fourth-generation version of this particular model and there are no particular known faults with it. Pre-2012 cars could suffer with vibrations from the steering, excessive oil use and possibly injector failure, but all of these should have been remedied by earlier owners under warranty and by recalls. Other than that, on any models with turbocharged engines, look for excessive turbo wear – most commonly denoted by lots of white smoke from the exhaust during hard acceleration or on cold start-up, or a feeling that the car isn’t ‘boosting’ properly when accelerating during a test drive.
