What should I trade in my Lexus for?
I've a 2007 Lexus IS 250 in brilliant condition, one previous owner, but tax is too expensive. I need a safe family car; what are my options if i traded in the Lexus?

Hi Siobhain,
I reckon you’ll make in the region of €6,500 for the Lexus, so that should get you into a 2008 Ford Mondeo 1.8 TDCi. It's big, spacious and very safe and will be in Band B1 for tax, so €270 a year. That should trim the bills a bit. Watch for electrical gremlins, and if the engine cuts out unexpectedly, it needs a software patch from a main dealer. Interiors can be a little fragile too but otherwise they’re solid and reliable cars.
