Hi i have an auris diesel 2011. It is a great car but with one big flaw for my driving. The dpf. It has entered limp mode five times. My driving involves short runs in city with 2 or three big runs each week. One mechanic said sell it as it does not fit requirements but i am loathe to as it is a good car and cheap to run. Advice?
Hi John,
When you say ‘big ruins’ what exactly do you mean? I ask because, theoretically, one decent-length drive per week (say of around 30-40 mins on a motorway or main road) should be enough to keep the DPF clear, as that should be enough time for the system to heat up properly. If that’s not working, it could be that the DPF has filled up beyond the point where the normal heat cycle can clear it out, and it may need to be manually cleaned out, or possibly replaced. Have you owned the car from new and has it always been fully serviced? If so, this really shouldn’t be happening.
