Have over 20,000 euro to spend on a car, thinking of getting either a LEXUS IS300H OR AND AUDI A4 OR A6 DIESEL. THE PROBLEM I AM SEEN IS THAT THE LEXUS SEEM TO BE A LOT DEARER FOR CARS THAT HAVE AROUND THE 60,000 MILE MARK . THE QUESTION I HAVE HERE IS THIS BECAUSE THE LEXUS IS A BETTER QUALITY CAR. I WOULD HAVE THOUGH IT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE AUDI THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN DEARER, JUST WONDERING WHAT YOU THINK YOURSELF
Hi Shane,
Partially, the difference is probably down to the fact that there are more A4s and A6s around to choose from than there are IS 300hs, and the simple effect of supply and demand makes its mark. Another is that hybrid cars are increasing in popularity as buyers slowly move away from diesel, which also pushes up the prices a little. However, you are onto something here — the Lexus is likely to be more reliable in the long run than the Audi. Audi makes good quality cars, and both the A4 and A6 have an excellent reputation for reliability, but there’s no getting away from the fact that Lexus reliability is close to impregnable, and as the miles rack up, that has an effect.
