What's covered in a Nissan warranty?

Looking at a nissan 181 which is still under warranty , what does this mean exactly if anything goes wrong with the car it will be fixed or what kind of problems are covered ?

Our answer:

Hi Siobhan,

Manufacturer warranties tend to cover mechanical and electrical failures and the like, for a set amount of miles and/or time. In the case of the Nissan Ireland warranty, it covers a car for three years and 100,000km, and its cover specifically pertains to ‘any manufacturing defects’ while the car is younger than three years old or has covered less than 100,000km. You will therefore be covered and not have to pay if, say, the engine fails or the gearbox malfunctions or the onboard electricals go haywire (all very unlikely scenarios, we must stress), but the warranty won’t cover ‘consumables’ – these are items that are designed to wear on a car, such as tyres, wiper blades, brake pads (and, to an extent, brake discs, although these should not fail within three years/100,000km on a 181-plate Nissan), oils and so on.
