Hello, I am looking to buy a car which is Renault Fluence 2010 tom tom model but I am a bit worried as the mileage on the car is 152,000 miles. The car is priced around 4500 euros. What is the life of the engine(1.5 diesel) of this variant ? How long can it go ? Is it advisable to buy this car ?
Hello Varun,
As long as the car has a wealth of paperwork – a fully-stamped service history, indication of maintenance throughout its life and regular NCTs – then a diesel Renault should soak up 150,000 miles no problem. It’s probably not reasonable to expect it to cover another fault-free 150,000 from this point in its life, but it should certainly be a ‘good runner’ for a number of years yet. Don’t forget to test drive the car before you buy, to get a good steer for how it feels – if there’s something glaringly wrong with it that’s hidden from the eye, it’s unlikely to be able to be masked once the car is in motion.
