What reliable car suits a first time driver?
What reliable used cars are available with reasonable road tax and insurance for a first time driver for around €6,000?

How about a Kia Picanto? Always one of the nicer small cars to drive, has the crucial 1.0-litre engine for learner insurance and, if you can track down a 2010 example, (which should be well within your budget) it will still have two years left to run on its original warranty.
Other good choices are a Toyota Yaris or Opel Corsa. Or for something a bit more left-field, how about a Subaru Justy?
