The best thing to do is stick to a 1.0-litre car, so as to keep insurance costs under control. The Nissan Micra is a perennially good choice, and is tremendously reliable. The Opel Corsa 1.0 is also not a bad option and a Toyota Yaris makes a great deal of sense too.
