what is considered high mileage?
Hi Fiona,
Well, according to the Central Statistics Office, the average number of kilometres travelled by a 1.6-litre petrol car is 16,000km and for a 1.6 diesel it’s 24,000km, so those are good figures to start with. To be honest, though, mileage should be the least of your concerns when buying a car — condition and history are far, far more important. A well-cared for, fully-serviced car with high mileage is a much better buy than a low-miles car that’s been abused.
