Personally, I’d recommend a a Skoda Yeti. Based on hatchback mechanicals, they’re really pleasant and easy to drive, and not so big that you’d be scuppered in city centre car parks. The driving position is just nicely high though, with very comfy seats and a well-laid out cabin. Should do the job.
