What goes wrong with the Audi A6 1.8 engine?

Audi a6 c7 2018 .1.8 petrol..what goes wrong with these engines are the any good

Our answer:

Hi Steve,

Generally that engine is a good one as lots of the early E888 problems have been ironed out. Don't go near one without a complete service history though, showing regular oil changes.

Do listen out for a cold-start rattle from the timing chain - and walk away if it has that issue.

Look for warning lights on the dash as on all cars.

A rough idle might mean the PCV valve needs replacing or that there's a lot of carbon build up on the valve seats. Neither are definite deal breakers, but I'd be inclined to look for other cars or negotiate the price down to cover the work.

If the car runs and drives smoothly, and has a decent service history, it's likely a good buy.
