We have had a 2010 Citroen C4 Grand Picasso and have loved it. We're looking to change and have no idea what to look for. We have children aged 17,15 and 13 so room is important also
Hi Martin,
OK, you can either change your car like-for-like for another seven-seat MPV, or you can look at the type of vehicle that is slowly killing off the MPV, which is the seven-seat SUV. In the former category, you’re limited to the Renault Grand Scenic, which might not be big enough inside for three older teenaged children, or another Citroen Grand C4 Picasso, only the newer model launched in 2013 – it’s one of the best big family cars you can buy.
Looking at the SUVs, there are a few excellent sub-premium options in the form of the Skoda Kodiaq, the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Kia Sorento, but be aware that the Hyundai is about to be replaced with an all-new model; this might depress values of new and used examples of the outgoing version, so you could get a bargain on it.
If all of the above don’t seem too tempting, then the Skoda Superb Estate is well worth a look. It’s gigantic in the back, easily capable of taking three teenagers and it’s lovely to drive. Pick it in a higher specification and it feels like a luxury machine from two classes above its actual station in life.
