You need to fill in the details on the Vehicle Registration Certificate (VRC) for the new owner and send it away to Driver and Vehicle Licensing Computer Services Division, Department of Transport Tourism and Sport (DVCSD), Shannon, Co. Clare. Make sure you do that, not the seller.

After that, you should hand over all service history and NCT paperwork, along with the NCT and tax discs.

Obviously, make sure you are happy with receipt of payment before doing all of that, and there's no harm at all in asking for identification.
