2012 RR Sport, is it overpriced at €50,000, 77,000 miles, is the 2012 model as troublesome as earlier models
Hi Chris,
Nope, €50k is about the median level for a 2012 Range Rover Sport. As long as it comes with a full service history and is in good condition, I’d say that’s a fair price. They’re actually not too bad on the reliability front, and the later 3.0-litre TDV6 diesels are certainly more robust than the older 2.7. Watch for stuttering or hesitant power delivery (probably the exhaust gas recirculation valves) and listen for a loud rasping or graunching noise coming from under the car, which means there’s trouble in the centre transfer box. Noisy suspension means that either the anti-roll bar bushes or lower suspension arms need replacing, and take along a marked stick or long ruler to make sure that the car sits level on its air suspension at idle – any unevenness or leaning means problems, expensive ones. The electronics can be fiddly too, with the electronic parking brake a common failure point.
