What do you think of the Subaru Levorg?
Hi Brian,
The Levorg is an odd car in every sense. Subarus tend to the quirky end of the scale at the best of times, but the Levorg is, in Irish terms, properly oddball. After all, if you said you were trying to sell a car in the Irish market that only came as an estate, only came with an automatic gearbox and only came with a petrol engine, I’d say you’re mad. Oh, and a price tag of €45k? Forget it.
And yet, it’s kind of impossible not to like the Levorg. It has some of the sporty looks of the old Impreza turbo, it’s good to drive, beautifully made, comfortable, practical and likely hugely reliable. That 1.6 turbo flat-four engine is thirsty and comes with a hefty tax bill, but it’s very smooth compared to any rival engine and has quite a bit of performance. It’s a car you probably need to be a dedicated Subaru fan to love, but for all its faults (the price, the fuel, the tax) we rather like it.
