Good day. I'm expecting my Japanese import nissan note I November this year. I just want to ask , what are the processes and stages in clearing it. Thanks
Hi Nobert,
When the car arrives at the port, you will need a customs declaration. It may be easier to use a specialised agent for that if you've not done it before, though you can do it yourself if you wish. The car will be released to you once you have paid import duty and VAT. Then you need to make an appointment to have the car inspected at an NCT centre within seven days. That will determine the VRT you have to pay, which must be done within 30 days. Once that's done you will be given its registration and you can order plates and sort out the motor tax.
