What do I do about DPF issues?
Hi Shane, I am looking at changing my car soon. I have a Volvo S40 2010 1.6 diesel. Its giving me some DPF issues as I have changed from a long commute to closer to home. I am looking to get a petrol saloon but they are hard to come by these days. If I went for a diesel car again, given that I have less mileage, would I see the same problems again?

Hi Paul,
Yes, almost certainly. Now, there are some additives, such as those available from Liqui Moly, which you can put in your fuel to help keep your DPF clean on a lower mileage, but eventually you’re going to have the same issues. Have you considered a hybrid? You might find it easier to track one down than a purely petrol car.
