Hello Transmission Oil cooler on my a6 3.0 tfsi had started leaking and choclate milkshake like substance was visible in the coolant bottle. I have got the oil cooler changed and the contaminated coolant flushed out and replaced. Apparently mechanic says that atf mixed with water but no water went in atf so the atf doesn't need to be changed. I insisted on changing it and he said chances are more that your transmission will stop working if I change atf rather then not changing it. Confused now
Hi Vaibhav,
That doesn't make a lot of sense. While the transmission may be a 'sealed for life' unit, if the oil is properly drained and replaced then it should be absolutely fine. Note that it's a good bit of work, though, so be prepared to pay for it.
