What diesel saloon for up to €8,000?
Hi,
Currently have a company vehicle but starting a new job in a few weeks and need to buy a car, going to be doing about 150km per day, thinking about going for a 1.9-2.0-litre diesel, anything you would recommend? Max budget is €7,000-€8,000 so probably limited to 2005-2007 models so hoping to get the best economy possible.

Normally I'd be sensible at this point and say get a Passat, an Avensis or an A4. Safe and solid and should give you no major bother.
But I've just spotted an Alfa Romeo 159 1.9 JTDM and I think you should snap it up. Utterly gorgeous, 55mpg and, honestly, really well built. Care for it, keep it serviced properly and I think you'll love it.
