Two reasons for that: one, until the recent Dieselgate scandal, we here in Ireland were in love with diesel cars due to the tax implications of its lower CO2 outputs and thus it massively outsold petrol in all types of vehicles; and two, we don’t seem to like estates here – preferring instead either three-box saloons or SUVs.
