What diesel car should I get up to €15,000?

I'm looking to buy a diesel car and willing to spend around €13,000 to €15,000; what would you recommend? Something about 1.6 to 1.9 and 09 upwards.

Hi Julie,

Simple answer – get a Volkswagen Golf 1.6 TDI, preferably a BlueMotion to really maximise the economy. I know the cop-out answer to all motoring questions is ‘get a Golf” so it’s also worth looking at a Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi or a Toyota Auris 1.4 D-4D.
