What can my Beetle tow?
I have a 2003 New Beetle Turbo Automatic. I want to purchase a mini travel trailer. How many pounds can I tow without damaging my car and max tongue weight should it have? I’m considering one that weighs 1250 pounds. Thank you in advance for your help. Linda.

Is that the 1.8-litre turbo engine? If so, you’re just within the maximum towing weight for an un-braked trailer. The Beetle 1.8T’s max towing weight for an un-braked trailer is 600kg, which equals 1,322lb. Get a braked trailer and you can increase that to 2,204lb.
