I'm afraid we've never conducted a scientific study to see which brands are best. In general it's not a very problematic component and nor is it very expensive or difficult to replace in most cars so I don't think many people will have put a lot of thought into it. I've used belts from Gates, but can't say with any authority that they're any better than any other brand - or than the OEM items for that matter.
