What automatic car would suit a learner?

I am learner driver and I want a cheap and small automatic car that is also very economical.

Please help me

Our answer:

Hi Mani,

OK, this is a little tricky because, for insurance purposes, as a learner, you really need to stick to 1.0-litre cars to keep your premiums down, but it’s pretty hard to find a 1.0-litre car with an automatic gearbox. That said, there are some around and the pick of the litter is probably this Suzuki Alto we found. It's reliable, simple and actually quite pleasant to drive and yours for €5k. It’s worth having a chat with your local friendly insurance broker though, because you might be able to afford the premiums on something a little bigger. If you can get into a 1.2 without breaking the bank, it opens up a world of automatic last-generation Nissan Micras.
