Depends on budget. Got some money to spend? Get a Volkswagen up!, SEAT Mii or Skoda Citigo. Cracking small cars, brilliant to drive and they look quite funky.
On a tight budget? You're going to hate me but... 1993 to 2002 Nissan Micra. Nicer to drive than you think, solidly reliable and with that crucial-for-insurance 1.0-litre engine.
