Lots and lots of good cars to choose from in that category. My personal fave is the Honda Civic i-DTEC 1.6, but the price points can be a little daunting. Golf, Focus, Octavia, 308 and Leon are all also excellent choices. There's little to choose between them (the Golf is the classiest, the Focus best to drive, the Octavia has the most space, the 308 has the smartest cabin and the Leon may just be the best all-round) so just go with (a) whichever one you like the look of and (b) whichever one you can get the best deal on.
